Insecurities

“Oh look at her. She is so ugly” the boys from her class teased her.
“You’re good for nothing!” her mother scolded her holding her marksheet.

After all these years, her insecurities kept on growing. Her insecurities ate her alive, bringing down her self confidence, and increasing her self- doubt. She pitied herself. She hated herself. She hated her life. She hated how she looked but never believed when she was called beautiful. She hated her dark skin color, but didn’t believe that some boys could care less. She hated how she had layer of flabs around her waist but didn’t believe when she was told she had perfect figure. She hated how she chickened out from doing some things in her life just because she cared what others thought of her.  She hated that she was so pathetic while her friends excelled at everything though her friends thought otherwise of her. She hated the fact that she was so shy but didn’t believe that, that made her different from others. She hated that she didn’t have so much of a confidence to talk in public, in front of people. She hated that even though she tried to impress her parents in everything she did, she couldn’t. She hated the fact that the boy she craved didn’t want her, thinking nobody deserved her, that if they did like her later on they will move on to other girls but little did she know that she had a line of boys staring at her, admiring her, wanting her.

She was full of hate for herself, unaware of the fact that she was loved just as equally and that she was unique in her own way. She wanted to be free from her insecurities but didn’t know how! If only she could hypnotise herself and remove all the negative thoughts about herself and enjoy the small moments of her life. If only….she thought!

  1. That’s wonderfully written.

I believe there are s lot of people belonging to the similar clad. As a matter of fact I am too. The insecurities may vary, but somehave them deeply rooted that uprooting them is quite difficult.

Like I said, beautifully articulated. 😀
    Keep writing. 😀

  2. This post gets right to the point in a succession of lines that mimic the obsessive thoughts that insecurities bring. Too many lives fail to bloom in the corrosive soil of insecurity. If only, indeed. If only one could see the beauty in all things including oneself then insecurities would find no way to sink its roots into the fertile mind and spirit. Well done, Priyanka.

      1. That explains the authenticity in your writing. It is continuous and you will win. As a reader I can see the potential and depth of soul in your writing. The only thing is to believe in yourself and chart your course. The negative influence of others will be there but they don’t define you. That is a privilege only you enjoy. You’re awesome. Believe it. 😊

  3. What a wonderful post. So true and all sounding so familiar.

I’m currently writing about 4 steps to get rid of that insecurity so it’s nice to get some inspiration from other blogs. I really enjoyed reading your post.

    Keep it up !
